This concept goes along with my earlier post and getting things done efficiently. What happens when you have a handful of great business ideas and you want to get them all going at once? You guessed it…NONE of them get off the ground! I brought this up because as I was jogging tonight, all of these business ideas and thoughts were running through my head and got me thinking…how can I handle all of these at once? The answer is: I can’t!
That’s why you need to focus your efforts into the business venture you see most likely to succeed. I’m just as guilty as the next when it comes to this. I am always coming up with business ideas and have these grand plans to start all of these different business ventures, when in reality, I should be focusing on getting one and ONLY one up and running first and foremost.
This is not to say you should throw away your other ideas but you should definitely file them way and revisit them when you can focus all of your efforts on the next one in line. There are also instances where you might be the primary stakeholder or “worker bee” in one business and you are a small player or investor in another passive business. In this case, it might be just fine to juggle a couple of things at one time as long as you are not overextending yourself with both businesses.
You just need to use good judgement and let yourself know if and when you start to fall behind on any one business. It’s not fair to you or business partners when someone starts to fall behind on tasks. It might be time to re-assess your goals and take a different approach.
