There is one question that you can ask yourself when starting a business to make sure you have the passion and desire to succeed and stick with it: If I were already a multi-millionaire, would I still pursue this business venture?
Scenario: So, you are a multi-millionaire and you are basically set for life, financially. Would you still put your blood, sweat and tears into a project or business venture? If you answer yes, then it’s likely that you have the passion to make this venture work, in the long run or at least the desire to work hard at it. If you say no, and you are only starting a business for the pure financial aspect and the possibility of making a large sum of money, it’s likely you will not succeed and the business will eventually lose interest to you and fold.
What I’ve learned over the past 10 year of being in the true working world, passion speaks loudly. If you don’t have it for a particular job, you will never be truly satisfied professionally. I’m not saying that all people who have passion towards their businesses or jobs don’t have bad days or days that they want to fold their hands, but they are definitely less likely to give up based on a few bad days here and there. The passion will override those bad days.
I know there are many people out there that want to make a name for themselves and would love to be their own boss. Just make sure there is a passion in what you decide to do. If there is a passion, it will show through to your clients and customers, your family and friends and you will live a more fulfilling life doing something you love.
